Lars Taylor
Lars Taylor is a Swiss guitarist, composer and producer whose instrumental music brings together contemporary jazz, fusion, smooth jazz and Brazilian influences. His approach is rooted in melody, groove and interaction, with the guitar serving the composition rather than technical display.
Born in Switzerland in 1977, Taylor spent part of his childhood in Rio de Janeiro, where he developed an early connection to Brazilian music and Bossa Nova. He began with seven years of piano before turning to guitar at the age of 14. From 1998 to 2002, he studied jazz guitar at the Musikakademie Basel with Francis Coletta.
After moving to Berlin in 2005, Taylor became active on the city's club scene, performing with artists including Leon Adonri and The Peacekeeper & The Purple Egg. He later spent time in Bucharest, Romania, before returning to Switzerland.
As a recording artist, Taylor has collaborated with Grammy-winning producer Paul Brown and has worked with musicians including bassist Charles Berthoud. He released his first solo single, “Sweet Onion…,” in 2019 and has since developed a catalog of instrumental music ranging from contemporary jazz and fusion to Brazilian-influenced pieces.
His recent releases include “Crosstalk,” an instrumental contemporary jazz/fusion track built around the interaction of electric lead guitar and acoustic/jazz guitar, as well as “Blue Sphere,” “Downtown” and “Coração.”
Taylor's music has received international radio and playlist support and has been featured across the smooth jazz, contemporary jazz and instrumental music scenes. Based in Switzerland, he continues to write, record and produce music as an independent artist.
