Bagge
Karsten Bagge has, for nearly three decades, been among the most prominent jazz drummers in Denmark. He has been a regular sideman for leading bandleaders such as Thomas Clausen, Bob Rockwell, and Jørgen Emborg, and has left a distinct mark in collective projects like Schackmates and Gunde On Garner.
As a freelancer, he has performed with artists including Sinne Eeg, Jakob Fischer, Magnus Thuelund, and Kristin Korb, and both the DR Big Band and the Göteborg Wind Orchestra have benefited from his creative and musical drumming.
As a composer and bandleader, Karsten has released several critically acclaimed albums: Enfant Terrific (2011), Current (2014), and Groovements (2015) — the latter two featuring international heavyweights such as Kevin Hays, Scott Colley, and Aaron Parks. His most recent release is The Song Remains – A Jazz Tribute To Led Zeppelin (2024), where he casts a jazz light on classics from one of rock’s most iconic catalogs.
In addition to his performing career, Karsten has for many years been a highly regarded teacher at both pre-conservatory (MGK) and conservatory level.
In short: a drummer with deep roots in the tradition, an open mind for new music — and a groove that always lands exactly where the music needs it.
