Joey Calveiro is a 17-year-old musician whose love for the saxophone began at the age of 12. His passion for jazz flourished under the mentorship of Yainer Horta, who played a pivotal role in shaping his musical journey.
Born into a family of musicians, with his grandfather, Fernando Teo Calveiro, as a jazz player, music has always been an integral part of his life. Over the years, Joey has had the honor of collaborating with jazz legends such as Arturo Sandoval, Chucho Valdés, and Gonzalo Rubalcaba. His debut album, Among The Stars, is a deeply personal project dedicated to his grandfather, who not only inspired him but also contributed to the album, composing many of the songs.
Currently, Joey is in the process of recording his second album alongside Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Yainer Horta. This new project marks an important milestone in his artistic growth, allowing him to explore new sounds and push the boundaries of his music.
