I love jazz because it allows for pure expression, where every note feels like a conversation between the soul and the instrument. I was first exposed to jazz at a young age, growing up in a family of musicians, with my grandfather as a jazz player. I have met and worked with many amazing legends of the jazz world, including Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Chucho Valdés, and Arturo Sandoval, among others. The best show I ever attended was a Jacob Collier concert in a small Florida venue when he was just starting out, it was pure genius up close. The first jazz record I bought was Seeds from the Underground by Kenny Garrett. My advice to new listeners is to keep an open mind and let the music speak to you.
