Ryan Huston
Ryan Huston is a senior at Montclair State University’s John J. Cali School of Music, studying jazz saxophone under the mentorship of Mike Lee. His playing is deeply influenced by jazz luminaries such as Dexter Gordon, Joe Henderson, and Sonny Stitt. Primarily a tenor saxophonist, Ryan also plays soprano and alto saxophones, as well as guitar, flute, and clarinet.
Ryan has performed with the Montclair State University Jazz Ensemble, including a notable appearance at the Montclair Jazz Festival in September 2024. He also contributed to the worldwide “Song of Hope” project during the COVID-19 pandemic, showcasing his versatility and commitment to collaborative musical endeavors.
In April 2024, Ryan was a part of Dave Stryker's Montclair State University quintet who recorded live at WBGO Studios as part of Jazz Appreciation Month, performing works by McCoy Tyner, Joe Henderson, and Dave Stryker.
Ryan maintains an active online presence, sharing performances and recordings on platforms such as YouTube and SoundCloud. His ultimate goal is to become an integral part of the New York City jazz scene while dedicating himself to music education.
