Neon Kross

Can’t get over the 80s? Well, neither can NEON KROSS. This band puts a fresh touch on the timeless sounds of new wave. Started in 2007, NEON KROSS is no tribute band. Nor are they rehashing the past. NEON KROSS is an artistic descendent of bands that changed the art or culture of music, such as Billy Idol, A Flock Of Seagulls, Berlin, The Fixx, Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Ramones, Blondie, Clan of Xymox, The Damned, Camouflage, and Psychedelic Furs. The mesh of these influences is evidenced in the charged rock riffs, the strong rhythm section, and the keyboard that so eloquently accents the guitar.

Besides being the musical godchildren of a defining era of music, NEON KROSS comes with its own pedigree. The band is no upstart. Originally founded as a side project of John McCoy (from Pins and Needles, Los Angeles) and renowned guitarist Daniel deLeon, NK is becoming a force all its own. To the band, deLeon brings a diverse sphere of influence. His first band, THE INSAINTS, has attained cult status and a place in the pantheon of punk. DeLeon’s guitar was an integral part of the Deep Eynde’s now classic album Shadowland. DeLeon is most known for his psychobilly endeavor REZUREX, a band that has gained him worldwide popularity.

NEON KROSS started out in the goth and dark wave clubs of Los Angeles, but quickly went beyond the confines of the scene that spawned it. By 2010, the band had released their first album, Not Human, and McCoy and deLeon had been featured in the independent film A Number’s Game. Their song of the same name was the film’s title track. The following year saw the band head to Europe to play the world’s largest goth music festival, Wave-Gotic-Treffen. The crowd was electrified by the haunting melodies and dark romance that is NEON KROSS. At this point, it was clear that the band was no side project but a force all its own.

With their latest release on deLeon’s label LIVE DEAD RECORDS. The album, Dimensions, shows the band polished and focused with danceable, rock and punk influenced material acceptable to any 80s audiophile. The first single, Downtown, has been made into a glamorous art deco influenced video shot on location in Mexico City. NEON KROSS sits poised to open a new musical chapter in the underground scene and beyond. Though their influences are unmistakable, NEON KROSS is its own band, unrivaled and creating a fan base of all ages and musical persuasions.
