Eddie Severn
Eddie Severn has performed in a huge variety of musical situations from jazz to classical to rock. His performing career spans over 20 years and for 6 years he was lead trumpet player with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. He is now living in the USA and freelances as a solo performer and clinician.
Eddie has performed with many well-known musicians including Tommy Smith, Kenny Wheeler, Maria Schneider, Joe Lovano, Ingrid Jenson, John Dankworth & Cleo Laine, Ken Peplowski, Dave Leibman and Bobby Watson, Joe Temperly, Bobby Wellins, Jim Mullen, Emil Vickiky, Bill Chase Tribute Band, Rich Szabo Big Band and Bob Wilbur Big Band. Jazz Festival appearances include Edinburgh International Jazz Festival, Glasgow International Jazz Festival, Chesky Krumlov Jazz Festival, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Brecon Jazz Festival and the Bath Jazz Festival. Eddie is currently a regular member of the Rob Stoneback Big Band and the The Tony Gairo, Gary Rissmiller Jazz Orchestra.
In the commercial field, Eddie has performed and recorded music for television, radio and theatre as well as numerous pop sessions and shows. Credits include Kenny Rogers, Tammy Wynette, Connie Frances, The Ant and Dec Show, Allan Stewart, Andy Prior Big Band and Chita Rivera. Orchestral credits include the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Birmingham City Concert Orchestra, The Royal Scottish Academy Brass and the English Symphony Orchestra.
Composer / Arranger
As well as composing music for his own Quartet, Eddie has written several commissions including music for the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, the Scottish Composers Jazz Ensemble and the Scottish Arts Council. A notable commission was premiered in the Glasgow International Jazz Festival, where he wrote a piece for reknowned trumpeter Kenny Wheeler.
Clinician
Eddie Severn is a clinician for Conn-Selmer and currently holds the post of teacher of trumpet and jazz studies at the Birmingham Conservatoire as well as teacher of jazz trumpet at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. As a clinician he has been featured several times at the New York Brass Conference, the IAJE conference, the International Trumpet Guild Conference and Eastern Michigan University. European clinics include work with the Tampere Conservatoire Big Band in Finland and the Frydlant Jazz Summer School in the Czech Republic.

Easy going. Paced, sensitive. 8 minutes of ‘The Lost World’ is as tropical as the release gets, with Severn on his flugelhorn composition: a genuine soft-ice pleasure that’s one of the best of the 11 tracks here.
