Moss

There are 9 (yes NINE!) artists using the name Moss. Moss (1): British Sludge/Drone band. (2): Dutch indie/pop band. (3): downtempo/nu-jazz producer (4): Progressive trance producer (5): Minimal producer/remixer (6): Ngati Tuwharetoa (dub) (7): Finnish Indie Band (8): Garage Producer (9): New Vocal Jazz group featuring Theo Bleckmann, Peter Eldridge, Lauren Kinhan, Kate McGarry, and Luciana Souza. (1) One of the most extreme Doom acts out there. Moss is sort of like an unholy mixture between Funeral Doom and Sludge Doom. Ultra slow, Ultra heavy music that will appeal to all fans of extreme Doom. The sick screams add even more to the distorted musical view of Moss. The music however also knows some more ambient parts, which help the foreboding atmosphere even more. Moss is one of the most interesting Doom acts of recent times, but only for those who are into extreme Doom. (2) Three Dutchies from Amsterdam and one Englishman. A musical base of guitar and Fender Rhodes. Moss is about songs that are both enticing and enduring. Together with producer Frans Hagenaars they have been working intensly on their debutalbum: The Long Way Back, which has been released on Excelsior Recordings on februari 19th, 2007. After a very busy 2007 they are now working on their second album. (3) is an electronic musician producing downtempo/nu-jazz. (4) is a progressive trance producer releasing on vinyl titled Mossaic. (5) is an artist whom has remixed various IDM/minimal/ambient tracks. (6) is Ngati Tuwharetoa whom has done various dub/downtempo songs. (7) is an indie band from Finland releasing just a few songs on VA albums. (8) is a UK Garage producer releasing one vinyl titled Nasty. Moss is also used by two producers. The first did the mastering/mixing on a The Dambuilders vinyl. The other is MoSS whom is a record producer primarily working in hip hop. (9) MOSS MOSS is a meeting of some of New York's most talented and diverse jazz singers - Theo Bleckmann, Peter Eldridge, Lauren Kinhan, Kate McGarry, and Luciana Souza. They unite their creative ideas and talents; presenting their original compositions and resetting them for five voices and trio. You are likely to hear standards, poetry, original music and spontaneous improvisation under one umbrella. Peter Eldridge and Lauren Kinhan are members of the Grammy award winning New York Voices and also have their own solo projects of original music; Theo Bleckmann is one of the vocal magicians with Meredith Monk and his own genre-bending work; Kate McGarry has been gracing New Yorkers with her soulful timbre for many years; Luciana Souza is seen all over the world in all her incarnations, Brazilian, Jazz, and Poetry inspired.

Right at the peak of his recording career, when The Song Is Paris (Impulse) was released in 1962, Jackie Paris felt the jazz earth crumble beneath his feet. In the late 1940s and '50s, he had been among New York's hippest club singers, a jazz musician's singer. But by the early '60s, Paris was never able to leverage opportunity beyond jazz as the market shifted to pop. As a result, Paris spent the '60s scuffling as big-label recording shots for ...
