Mimi Patricia Snider
Mimi Snider, Jazz Vocalist, Percussion-Trained
NEW CONCERT celebrating musical conversations that crossed oceans, cultures, and generations and traces the rich and often overlooked exchanges occurring between the late 1800s through to the early 1950s that helped shape American jazz. Through the waterways and highways connecting Cuba, Mexico, New Orleans, New York City musicians from these locations and American musicians shared rhythms, melodies, sounds, and ideas in an increasingly rich musical way.
Co-produced her most recent single digital release “Reach Out For Me/This Girl’s In Love” (2012). Jazz interpretation of "Reach Out For Me" arranged with "This Girl's In Love" created with a slow and easy entrance, building to a funk groove with Bob Murphy (B3 Hammond), Jennifer Scott (Werlizter), Randall Stoll (drums), and Rene Worst (bass). Arranged by dynamo husband and wife team: Jennifer Scott and Rene Worst; Vocal Arrangements by Mimi Snider; Mixed by Dave Meszaros, Mimi Snider, Rene Worst and Mastered by Dave Meszaros; Recording Engineer: Dave Meszaros; Recorded in Bakerstreet Studios, North Vancouver and Watershed Studios, Vancouver. Produced her first full length CD "Thank you, Merci" (2007) inviting local favourites Russ Botten, Tony Foster, Joe Poole andTom Colclough to feature W.C. Handy’s tribute to New Orleans “Chantez-Les-Bas (Sing’ Em Low)” and several Randy Weston compositions (recorded atRiverside Recording Studio 2005, 2006). This is a live (few edits) high energyrecording with arrangements created by Russ Botten and Tony Foster.

"Thank you, Merci" to all of my mentors, to the musicians of New Orleans and to the Spirit of Love:
Your energy,Your light,
Without It,
what would i be.
my voice, passion for bebop, funk, swing, and samba and son
love of harmony, dance and all rhythms
all because of You.
Inspired by Your tenacity and strength,
Your determination and
Creativity Overflowing.
G-d is in the details:
Your melody, polyrhythms,
Hairstyle, clothes and sway.
Elegant, glorious, spontaneous,
with a mindset of goodwill
to all.

HERE IS WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:
CD Review on Ejazznews.com by Edward Blanco
"...another Canadian songbird that sings her way into your heart with a gem of a recording...leaving one heck of an impression...beginning with the light and jazzy standard “Hi Fly,” Mimi soars heavenly, propelled by the first of many outstanding piano solos from Foster. She turns south on the samba- shaded “Summer Samba,” singing in teasing fashion with sensuous lyrics...from a listener’s perspective I would have to say the music and her smooth velvet voice left me quite pleased. So I have to say to Mimi, “Thank You, Merci,” for one fine album."
