Marion Wolf
Marion Wolf, born in 2000 in Wolfsberg, Carinthia, Austria, is a violinist, singer, composer, and teacher whose work moves fluidly across genres and languages. She began studying classical violin at the age of twelve at the local music school and completed her training with distinction after only seven years. In 2019 she was awarded a scholarship from the D’Addario Foundation to attend the Munich String Camp at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, and she was also accepted into a government-funded talent program at the Gustav Mahler Private University for Music in Klagenfurt. In 2024 she graduated with distinction in Jazz Violin under Max Grosch and in 2025 in Jazz Voice under Caroline DeRooj. In 2023 she founded the Marion Wolf Quartet together with pianist Fabian Mang, bassist Luka Dobnikar, and drummer Christoph Suttner. The group focuses on Wolf’s original compositions and arrangements, blending jazz with influences from Latin, hip-hop, blues, pop, free jazz, and the contemporary ECM style. A unique feature of her music is her use of Austrian dialect within a modern jazz context, which gives her vocal work a distinctive identity within the Austrian jazz scene. This versatility, combined with her lyrical sensitivity and cross-genre approach, makes her one of the most promising young voices in Austrian jazz today. The quartet will release their debut-album on Sept. 5th 2025.
