CEO and Founder of Larry Draughn Music, Larry Q. Draughn Jr., has been cultivating his musical concept for over 30 years. He is an arranger, composer, educator, master of ceremonies, and professional percussionist. Larry holds a bachelor's degree in Classical Percussion from North Carolina Agriculture & Technically State University (2007), as well as a Master's in Jazz Studies from North Carolina Central University (2011). Professional drummer by trade, Draughn is a “first call” musician both home and abroad, sharing the stage with the likes of Branford Marsalis, Joey Calderazzo, and Nneena Freelon. He has performed his works at the Kennedy Center and the Ravinia Jazz Festival.
Larry is a consummate educator and lecturer specializing in Jazz Drum Set History and Pan-African Rhythmic Concepts hosting classes and clinics at Duke University, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, North Carolina Central University, and Sharp Nine Gallery in Durham, NC.
