LAC Trio

The Lac Trio was formed in Rotterdam in 2022 from the meeting of tenor saxophonist
Andrea Leone, guitarist Leonardo Franceschini, and drummer Carlo Longo. From the
outset, the trio explored a repertoire ranging from original compositions to
rearrangements of pieces from various musical contexts. The group refined its
unique language, crafting an identity rooted in a dynamic interplay between rhythmic
intensity and evocative atmospheres.
Their music is characterised by a strong improvisational spirit and unconventional
soundscapes inspired by contemporary jazz ensembles like The Bad Plus, Jakob Bro,
ADHD and the Paul Motian Trio. Their repertoire spans arrangements of classical
composers such as F.Mompou and C. Debussy as well as original compositions by the
trio, including moments of free improvisation. This approach aims to create "sound
clouds" that evoke a sense of suspension and lightness for the listener.
In 2024 they recorded their debut album L’Ala Incerta Della Farfalla (The Uncertain Wing
of the Butterfly) at Wisseloord Studios in collaboration with musician Hanna Marieke. The
album is set to be released in spring 2025 by AUT Records.
