Jérôme Descamps

Originally from the North of France, he began his career as a classical trombonist in Symphonic Orchestras, then came the discovery of Improvised Music, Free Jazz and Contemporary Music.
He joined for two years the different formations of the A.R.F.I (Lyon collective) alongside Jean-Luc Cappozzo, Alain Gibert, Patrick Charbonnier, Maurice Merle, Jean Bolcato…
He then joined the Artistic Conservatory of French Polynesia, in Papeete, where he has been teaching trombone since 1999.
Then come the meetings, on stage and in studio: Elton Dean, Paul Rutherford, AYO, the 4tet SAKAY (Christian Pruvost, Peter Orins and Nicolas Mahieux), the duo Te Ti'ama with Christelle Sery (album in preparation), the duo with his son Oscar Descamps (album in preparation)…
In parallel with the cello, he developed a musical action for the very young public as part of his duet with Christine Vinolo: "Les Comptineurs de Tahit"i (9 CD albums). The duo regularly plays in the Pediatrics (children) and Neonatal (premature babies) departments of the Hospital of Tahiti.
