Jack Nissen

Jack Nissen is a bassist in the New York metro area, and is a sought-after player in the jazz, rock, funk, and soul genres. Jack also writes and performs his traditionally based original compositions written with a modern flair.

​A dynamic bass player for over 13 years, Jack has performed with seasoned professionals including Randy Brecker, Jeff Hamilton, Terell Stafford, Rick Roe, Nate Winn, Marshall Gilkes, Marcus Elliot, and Brian Lynch.

Jack has studied under several teachers, most notably Robert Hurst and Maestro Ron Carter. 

Jack has performed at numerous iconic venues including the Detroit Jazz Festival, Dizzy's Club, Minton's Playhouse, and The Stone Pony. He was a member of the University of Michigan Jazz ensemble from 2020-2024 whom with he toured the northeast and mentored students from inner cities. Jack also studied at the JAS Academy Aspen Summer Program in July 2023.
