Homestead Jazz Ensemble

The Homestead Jazz Ensemble is comprised of 22 of the top student musicians in Homestead High School’s large and vibrant music program. The Homestead Jazz Ensemble was founded in 1974 by then band director, Rory Snyder. Since 1991, John Burn – a Homestead High School graduate and Homestead Jazz Ensemble Alum - has been the director. Throughout the past four decades, the Homestead Jazz Ensemble has continually earned high ratings at adjudicated festivals such as the CMEA Jazz Festival, the Reno Jazz Festival, and the Santa Cruz Jazz Festival. In 2009, the Homestead Jazz Ensemble performed in the Australian International Music Festival in Sydney, Australia and in 2005 the Homestead Jazz Ensemble performed in both the “Next Generation” Monterey Jazz Festival and the Kobe Jazz Festival in Kobe, Japan.
