Francesco Salomoni
He had a classical education on trombone attending conservatory and studying with Maurizio Persia, bass trombone of the Accademia Nazionale di S.Cecilia. Although he enjoyed very much studying with Maestro Persia, he was looking for something more, something that he found during his first experience at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. He spent a whole summer there and in 2005 he was awarded with a Scholarship to attend a Summer Performance Program. He had the opportunity to study with personalities such as Phil Wilson, Lin Biviano, Charles Lewis, Tiger Okoshi just to name a few. He understood that Boston was the place where he had to stay to grow as a musician. Unfortunatly he couldn't afford Berklee tuition so he went back to Italy where he attended another year at conservatory in the jazz department. At the same time he organized a quartet and started performing in clubs around Rome, receiving some good reviews. He also played with the big band directed by Gianni Oddi and took part in theater shows. Besides this he was hired for other orchestra gigs and frequently joined Baritone Saxophonist Red Pellini in hot jam sessions.
In 2006 he decided to move to the USA with his fiancee, and after being selected for a residency at Atlantic Center for the Arts with Sam Rivers, he was sure that Florida would be his new home.
