Deep Ecology Trio featuring Cristian Amigo, JD Parran, and Andrew Drury

Deep Ecology Trio debuts EP Sticks and Stones on Deep Ecology Recordings (DER).

Deep Ecology Trio is an NYC-based free improvisation group consisting of Cristian Amigo (guitars, percussion), J.D. Parran (winds, percussion), and Andrew Drury (drums, percussion).

For the listener, the musical emphases on rhythm, color, and multiple temporal planes conjure images of natural and urban spaces and processes. Melody and harmony appear as human traces rather than as central organizing principles. Sounds vibrate and rumble, buzz, descend and ascend, and come together in composites before dissolving into individual lines. The musicians evoke sonic memories and ghosts, flowers and stones, water, streets, and time. A music of dwelling and interrelatedness. This is deep ecology music.

Deep Ecology Trio originally came together for the 2014 Vision Latin FreeJazz Festival, with other NYC performances at Arts for Arts’ Our Earth Festival and at Brooklyn’s Soup and Sound concert series. — Deep Ecology Trio (DER 2098) Sticks and Stones
