David Carlsson

David Carlsson – Electric Bassist/Music Producer/Engineer:

David Carlsson was born in Lund, Sweden in 1969. He began playing the electric bass at age 12, and quickly got recognized as a great talent. After finishing upper secondary school he entered the 2 year Music High School at Skurups Folkhögskola studying jazz. He has since worked in the music industry both as a musician and as a studio owner and has worked on over 200 productions featuring artists ranging from Jason Marsalis, Marcus Strickland, Bobo Stenson and Nils Landgren to The Cardigans, OK Go, Martha Wainwright, Lloyd Cole and Japanese mega star Bonnie Pink. He's performed at most of the nordic summer music festivals, toured clubs and festivals in Canada, USA, Japan and around Europe and has been featured on several occasions in both Swedish National Radio and Television. David is also doing solo performances and is constantly pushing the limits for his Electric Bass sound using various experimental techniques.

Groups/Projects: David's Angels: The band has released two critically acclaimed CDs, in 2009 ”Substar”, featuring NYC-based trumpet player Ingrid Jensen, and 2013 ”What It Seems”, both on Swedish label Kopasetic. The group has toured and performed at major jazz venues in Scandinavia, notably the Stockholm International Jazz Festival, showcased at the Jazz Ahead Festival in Germany. Summer tour 2014 included jazz festivals in Vancouver, Ottawa and Rochester.
