Dario Savino Doronzo

Dario Savino Doronzo graduated in Trumpet, Jazz Music, Conduction and Composition for Choir, Science and Technology of Sound. Moreover, he also attended the Tuning In! programme at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts of Vienna.

He has performed, as a soloist, in major Concert Halls and Festivals in Italy and abroad: Carnegie Hall (New York), Spectrum NYC, IIC – Italian Institute for Culture of New York, Thelonious Jazz Club and “Universidad de las Artes” in Buenos Aires, Auditorium “Juan Victoria” of San Juan (Ar), University of Arts of Tirana and Auditorium Gjon Kapidani of Scutari (Al), Municipal Conservatory of Thermi, SKG Bridges – Uprising Art & Culture Festival of Thessaloniki (Gr), Yasar University of Izmir (Tr), Ciglana Jazz Klub of Belgrade (Cs), University Cultural Center of Novi Sad (Cs), University of Coimbra (Pt), University of Aveiro (Pt), Piacenza Jazz Fest, Beat Onto Jazz Festival, Rodi Jazz Festival, Jazzit Fest – Pompei, Milano Spazio Classica (It), etc.

He was awarded in more than 20 International Music Competitions as Trumpet Soloist.

He also has a degree in Building Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Bari and perfected in Sound Engineering from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

Moreover, in the field musicological research, he has written appreciated essays and papers on Trumpet practice and Jazz performance and also on Place Marketing, including the book “The Musical Events as an Element of Enhancement of the Urban Heritage” (Florestano Press, 2019).

For DiG Label he recorded with the pianist Pietro Gallo the CD Reimagining Opera (feat. Michel Godard at Serpent).

Devoting also to teaching and musical research, he held courses and seminars focusing on Trumpet and Jazz Improvisation at Universities and Conservatories in Italy, Argentina, Greece, Albania, Serbia, Turkey, Portugal, etc. He taught Jazz Trumpet at “Santa Cecilia” Conservatory in Rome. At present, he teaches Jazz Trumpet at the “Alfredo Casella” Conservatory in L’Aquila.
