Dan Lehner
In New York, Lehner has performed with a wide array of groups including Asiko (Afro-Beat) and Nick Cooper of Houston’s Free Radicals (improvised music) and as well as King Holiday, is a member of Avenida B (salsa dura), Morricone Youth (film music) and Tri-State Conspiracy (punk swing), as well as guest engagements with bands such as All Boy/All Girl and The Reigning Monarchs (with guest Norah Jones). He’s also performed 16 shows of an off-off-Broadway run of Leonard Bernstein’s “Wonderful Town” with Brooklyn’s Gallery Players and contributing to the soundtrack of 2013 Canadian independent film “An Enemy”. He is resident composer for Odd Act Theater Company and premiered an original stage score to J.M. Barrie’s “Peter Pan”, using traditional, invented and toy instrumentation. He presently acts as composer and bandleader in his own group, Dan Lehner’s Spoken Migration, whose debut EP “Spoken Migration” was released on March 22nd, 2013.
Lehner has also been an active journalist in the New York and New Jersey areas for both All About Jazz and Feast of Music. He has provided live reviews of 100+ artists such as Roy Haynes, Lee Konitz, Steve Coleman, Vijay Iyer, Medeski Martin and Wood, Pat Metheny, The Bad Plus, Maria Schneider Orchestra, Christian McBride and many more, including coverage of Undead Music Festival, Winter Jazzfest and the Newport Jazz Festival. He’s also conducted interviews with artists like Tyshawn Sorey, Ben Williams, Miles Okazaki, Chris Combs (of Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey) and Dave Fiuczynski, as well as CD reviews and liner notes.

Meet Daniel Lehner:Dan Lehner is a freelance trombonist, composer and educator in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan.
