Cody McCorry
Cody McCorry is a composer, arranger, recording artist and internationally touring performer based in Asbury Park, NJ. He tours and performs his works with his own shapeshifting experimental ensemble, We Used to Cut the Grass, who have released two full length albums to date. He also works as a bassist and co-composer in several active ensembles ranging from mathcore to traditional jazz, in addition to composing for film and television and regularly freelancing on electric & upright bass, tuba, theremin and hand saw. He is a published author of three books of music for electric bass, and his 2019 full-length release with Thank You Scientist, Terraformer, charted at #73 overall and #8 in the Alternative charts on Billboard. Prior to that, his release with Karmic Juggernaut, The Dreams That Stuff Are Made Of, won an Independent Music Award for Best Funk/Fusion/Jam album. He also wrote the original score for Human Kind Of, a Facebook Watch series which was nominated for Best General Audience TV Production at the 2019 Annie Awards. His own large ensemble, We Used to Cut the Grass, released their critically acclaimed debut album in 2022, which was later picked up by Needlejuice Records. In 2023, Cody took up the role of touring bassist with legendary NJ hardcore band The Number Twelve Looks Like You. Cody has since scored the videogame Gravity Platform for iOS, the animated short Nice You Meet Me, and has most recently independently released his second album of compositions, We Used to Cut the Grass #2, including a full orchestra piece in collaboration with the Sofia Session Orchestra in Sofia, Bulgaria.
