Andromeda Turre

Growing up in a family of Jazz musicians, I draw a lot from Jazz both as a vocalist and a composer. It’s a part of my heritage. But I’m also inspired by contemporary artists that I love like Sting, Shirley Bassey, Seal, Annie Lennox, Jessie Ware, Laura Mvula and Sade. Through my own EMERGING, I have leaned into being a “multihyphenate” and embraced the various options I’ve been blessed with. In addition to being a vocalist and composer, I also created my educational program GROWING UP JAZZ. Having spent my life being raised in the Jazz community under the tutelage of icons of the industry like Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach and Wynton Marsalis, the wealth of knowledge and gift of perspective I was granted I feel obligated to share. Through Growing Up Jazz, I offer an often overlooked view of American History and an opportunity to discuss issues pertaining to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in a creative way. This work has lead me to offer DEI consulting, especially pertaining to the entertainment industry, as well currently holding the position of Interim Chair of the DEI committee for my hometown of Bedford, NY.
