Andrew Torgelson

LA based saxophonist and composer Andrew Torgelson (b. 1999) is known for his introspective compositions and commanding presence on stage. His unique artistic sound can be attributed to his classical/jazz upbringing and pop sensibilities, often drawing on nature and cultural heritage for inspiration.

A graduate of the USC Thornton School of Music, Andrew has quickly established himself as a versatile performer and first-call session musician (sax, flute, piano, clarinet, voice). He has toured and recorded with a wide range of artists including REO Speedwagon, Sir Please, Musiq Soulchild, KUN, Lo Moon, and rapper .idk., with whom he performed on a 2025 NPR Tiny Desk concert in Washington, DC.

In 2025, Andrew launched his solo career with debut album Forest and Fjord: a colorful collection of art-jazz compositions inspired by the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest coupled with his Nordic heritage. 

Andrew’s musical foundation traces back to Seattle, where he studied piano, clarinet, saxophone, flute, and composition; and trained rigorously in the Northwest Boychoir. At age 13, he was featured as a boy soprano soloist with the Seattle Symphony on a recording of Dutilleux’s Shadows of Time, which went on to earn a Grammy nomination.

Alongside his work as a performing musician, Andrew is a passionate and dedicated educator and community leader. He mentors his own private lesson studio, serves on the faculty at the Bloom School of Music, and works as a musical director with Music Mends Minds, a nonprofit creating musical communities for people living with neurodegenerative diseases.
