Ana Čop

Ana Čop, born August 3, 1994 in Ljubljana, started her musical career as a classical pianist. She soon began to
successfully participate in national and international competitions, especially with her piano trio Trio
Sensibile. After graduating from high school, she studied musicology at the University of Ljubljana and
at the same time enrolled at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet in Ljubljana, where she began her
first formal jazz education under the mentorship of Professor Nada Žgur. After two years she
successfully passed the entrance exams to the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the University of
Music and Performing Arts in Graz, where she enrolled. During her studies she presented several
original projects (I Remember Ella, Prešerno po slovensko, In Search of Dreams, ACTS!...), performed as
a student representative of the Jazz Institute, and was also the recipient of a scholarship from the
Slovenian Ministry of Culture. In 2020, she graduated summa cum laude from the Bachelor's degree in
Jazz Singing with the renowned professor Dena DeRose.

In April 2020, she successfully passed the entrance exam for the Master's degree at the prestigious
Jazzcampus school in Basel, Switzerland, where she currently studies and lives. Ana has collaborated
with many Slovenian and international musicians, co-authored the children's show Čuk se je oženil v
Ameriko and the teaching material Jump into a Musician's Everyday Life, which became part of the
national distance education programme, she is a programme co-leader and mentor at the Jazzinty
workshop and festival, and is the winner of the MM Jazztalente competition (2018). She has studied
with renowned mentors such as Brad Mehldau, Ralph Alessi, Jorge Rossy, Theo Bleckmann, Guillermo
Klein, etc. In 2020, she released her first album for Klopotec with her original project ACTS! (a duo with
Berlin-based pianist Thilo Seevers), which was very well received by the media. She also collaborated
on the album Shapeless by the Croatian-Slovenian band Trokut, which was nominated for the
prestigious Porin Music Award. In 2021 she also became a regular member of the band.
