Alexander Wittges
Munich-born pianist and composer Alexander Wittges (b. 2007) is one of the most promising young players on the German jazz scene. Guided by his motto “Old soul, new sound,” he pairs lyrical clarity with a modern swing feel and treats improvisation as a living conversation. Based in Freising near Munich, he hosts the A'Jazz Jam, has received multiple scholarships from IG Jazz Burghausen, and won second prize for solo jazz piano at Bavaria's Jugend jazzt Bayern competition in 2025. He has studied with pianist Tizian Jost and received career coaching from Emmet Cohen. His debut album, The Connector, released September 23, 2026, features nine original compositions recorded in a trio with bassist Rafael De Sousa and drummer Stefan Noelle.

“One of the highlights of the evening was undoubtedly Don’t Be Afraid Of Me, a world premiere. The piece was composed and arranged by Alexander Wittges, a member of the Camerloher Big Band, and served as a farewell gift from the graduating senior. Wittges is already well known in the region. With his piano mounted on a bicycle trailer, he rides through the cathedral town, entertaining passersby with his diverse jazz improvisations.”
“Alexander Wittges, whose extraordinary piano project has already attracted considerable attention in and around Freising, contributed an original composition that became one of the evening’s standout moments.”
