Alexander Kuzmin

My name is Alexander Kuzmin. I am a composer, arranger, multiinstrumentalist. I was born and brought up in Sevastopol (the Crimean peninsula) in a jazz musicians family. In my early childhood I started listening to and playing music. I was greatly influenced by my parents’ music and by such bands as Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins, Jaco Pastorius, John Scofield, Joe Zawinul, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Weather Report, Earth, wind & fire, Level 42, Deep Forest, etc.

I followed my parents advice to enter a musical school and learn to play the piano. But later I got interested in playing the bass and sax and entered a jazz college in Kiev. I participated in various music competitions and jazz festivals. I used to work in some funk-groups and big-bands as a leader and a session musician. I take part in some soloists’ projects as a composer and arranger.
