Scott K Homewood

A writer, raconteur, and most of all, a lover of jazz.

About Me

Scott Homewood has been writing and participating in the music world since he was a child in the '70's and going to drum lessons every damn week where the teacher would rap his knuckles with the drumstick if he played his rudiments wrong.. After joining a few bands and tiring of playing songs by other artists, he taught himself guitar and while not an exceptional soloist, can force an interesting solo if the need arises. The college years and band years overlapped and shortly after getting a journalism degree (after interning with the Buffalo News and the Niagara Gazette) he decided to take a break from the band life and get into the field of finance where he served as a financial advisor for several years. After picking up some side jobs (more like favors for people he knew) as a publicist for a concert promoter and several acts around the Buffalo area, he decided to leave finance behind and get back into the music business. To facilitate this, he felt he had to move away from the then-dark and dismal Buffalo area to find greener pastures. Choosing Charlotte NC, he quickly dove into the scene, writing for several weeklies and monthlies, hosting a midnight radio show on the local NPR station, booking bands, and doing press releases. As the 90's progressed, he started a regional music magazine called Indie File and a local video show called Indie Vision, all the while writing for other publications as well. The dawn of the 2000's saw the franchising of the magazine to ten other cities and the start-up of another magazine more centered on a lifestyles theme. That magazine, Charlotte CityThrills published for three years, after which he started to devote more time to PR, while still doing the occasional freelance writing assignment. Fast forward to 2023, the corporate PR work and freelance writing continue as well as a return to concert promotion. Here we are!
