About Me

Becoming my creative self through jazz, writing, travel, sailing and general fitness.

I AM MY NEXT PROJECT. I have given a lifetime to others (career) and now I am the focus of my life through the adventure of finding joy and sharing my creative self. Mostly through music and writing and lots of hobbies ~ I am returning to listening to music, writing sailing, cycling, travel, interior design and more. You could say that I am a polymath, because my interests and skills are many as well as widely varied, but the things I've mastered including managing a successful career in Industrial Manufacturing sales management are now supporting the more meaningful things that makes my heart sing.

My Jazz Story

I have always loved traditional jazz music. Maybe it was because... my dad and all my uncles and his friends loved it and the sound just seemed to make everything, speak to me, even as a teenager. I listened all through college and hung out with a jazz band, that eventually secured a sponsorship by Cannonball Adderly. I saw one of Art Farmers last concerts at Jazzland in Vienna, I was by myself and went two nights in a row. That was the first time I actually wrote about it, the words just flowed and I went back for more. After the show I went up and introduced myself and we talked for a bit. The first jazz records I bought were... Fat Albert Rotunda by Herbie Hancock and Kind of Blue by Miles Davis. I now have a huge collection that I only wish I could bring here to my home in Portugal.

My House Concert Story

Growing up in Los Angeles provided me with so many venues to listen to live jazz, from the Baked Potato and the Hollywood Bowl to the infamous Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach and Fridays at LACMA (LA County Museum of Art) for many years, not to mention all the places on Sunset Blvd. I have wanted to host jazz concerts forever and was able to host videos of live concerts in my back yard with screen and projector during COVID. Jazz at the Cochran House. Before that I designed and maintained a dating website, Jazz Luvin Singles.com and I hoped to travel all over the world for jazz and have an on-site dating booth at the various festivals. It was fun, I went to several events, but I had to keep the day job, so it eventually fizzled away like most of the knitch dating sites. At a few of the Playboy Jazz Festivals, I had hundreds of beach balls printed with the name and logo of the site and gave them away free.
