About Me

Versatility as a percussionist and drummer Fósforo Sequera playing allows you to assimilate music genres such as jazz, pop, Latin, rock, blues and world music from original, creative and passionate ways. He was born in Valencia, Venezuela and tried his hand at music during his youth, then he stood drumming with intuition and fear to explore new sound tracks, his ear was his best teacher. His curiosity expanded to other percussion instruments, taking the conga, timbales, bongos, djembe and cajon instruments that would mark the way and forge an original and sensitive style, very influenced by musicians such as Nené Quintero, Jerry Gonzalez, Manny Oquendo, Brian Blade, Marlon Simon, Trilok Gurtu, Steve Berrios and Miguel “Anga” Diaz, among others. His musical development led him to share the stage with personalities from the music world as Gerardo Rosales, Marlon Simon, Franco Nasi, Carmelo Medina, Tony Velázquez, UC Jazz, Maria Elena Millan, Omar Lopez, CJ3, Borburata Jazz, Big Montal Band, Kactus, Soto Blues Band, Omar Herrera, Marianne Mali, Valencia in Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra of the University of Carabobo, Sonata Disonante, among others.

Fósforo Sequera has participated in national events such as the Festival Internacional de Jazz de Barquisimeto 2014, Festival Internacional de Jazz de Naguanagua 2008 y 2016, el III, IV, X. XII, XIII y XIV Festival de Jazz de la Universidad de Carabobo, II Festival de Jazz de la Universidad Arturo Michelena , I Ciclo “Valencia es Música 2012”. II Encuentro de Percusionistas del estado Carabobo (2013); Tributo a los Drum Masters 2013, Drum Union Valencia 2014, Drum Union Barquisimeto 2013 y 2014 , II y III Ciclo de Jazz de Música Oculta (2013 y 2014 ) en Barquisimeto, estado Lara, I Encuentro de Cajones del Estado Carabobo 2014, III Festival de Música Contemporánea “Caracas en contratiempo” (2015), Programa “Centro, Corazón de Valencia” de la Fundación para la Cultura de la Alcaldía de Valencia (2014) and International Jazz Day concerts in Valencia 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019 , Venezuela, as well as various concerts where he showed his talent and commitment to drums.

Currently, Fósforo Sequera stands out as a drummer and percussionist conceptual, diverse, colorful, sensitive and one of the most valuable in the regional scene. Currently he works as freelance drummer and percussionist with many groups and his Fosforo SEuera Jazz Quartet. In addition, Fosforo Sequera has led a cultural movement in the city of Valencia, Venezuela jazz and music through the promotion and dissemination of concerts, clinics and conferences to promote where the importance of gender and virtues of the drum stands .
