Chris May is editor of the British style and culture magazine Jocks&Nerds.
Chris May is a Senior Editor on All About Jazz and Editor of the style / culture / history print magazine Jocks & Nerds. His books include African All-Stars: The Pop Music Of A Continent (Quartet Books/Paladin), an encyclopaedic survey of modern African music, and Vibes From The Scribes (Pluto Press), a contextualised anthology of verse by rap forebears The Last Poets. He edited the pioneering magazine Black Music & Jazz Review for five years and ran the London office of Celluloid Records, then the platform for Bill Laswell's productions. He is retained by New York's Partisan Records to write commentaries for every track on all releases in the label's ongoing Complete Works reissue series of his longtime friend Fela Kuti. In 2021 he has been commissioned by Google Arts & Culture to write the content for a definitive Fela Kuti website which will go live in early 2022.
