Al Bunshaft
Forever curious about sounds and rhythms from around our planet.
About Me
My first records were my dad's dixieland records and my aunt's pop music 45's. I talked my mother into buying me a horn when I was about 8. This was before you could join the music program at school. I've been a ravenous, passionate seeker of new sounds ever since.
Raised in New York, where I currently reside, I've also lived for extended periods in Austin, Texas and Tokyo, Japan. I've traveled to over 50 countries and seek out the music wherever I go.
From 2005 to 2010 I wrote jazz performance reviews for Jazz Improv Magazine in New York City. In addition to jazz, I also listen extensively to and support roots, blues, and world music.
I spent my professional career in the technology and innovation field, mostly related to engineering and scientific software. Business travel allowed me to discover jazz clubs across the globe.
