Hottentot

John Scofield
Duration: 9:51
3,239 views

John Scofield trio, with bassist John Patitucci and drummer Kendrick Scott, perform "Hottentot" in Santiago, January 19, 2007. A lo-fi recording, yes; but Sco shreds it up and demonstrates plenty of chops in the effects department as well, in this incendiary solo. Originally recorded on A Go Go (Verve, 1998) with Medeski, Martin & Wood, this fiery trio also proves Scofield can handle it all on his own - searing lines and gritty chordal self-accompaniment. Smokin'!
