Giant Steps

Camille Bertault
Duration: 03:01

French jazz soprano Camille Bertault is a marvel. She delivers a lyrical swing tune as deftly as she skats and vocalizes pure sound. Even though most of her songs are in French, she manages to entertain and mesmerize audiences throughout Europe and more recently the Americas. After seriously starting to focus on jazz voice around age 25, Camille went viral for a home-grown phone video in which she skats John Coltrane’s "Giant Steps" note-for-note at 300 bpm. Listen to jazz vocal elasticity meet stamina, with the solo starting at [00:30] on this YouTube track that’s been viewed 350,000+ times.
