About the Album

Dust, the moor, and wide open spaces characterize Alex Jønsson's new album ‘Heathland’, which is the fourth trio release from the acknowledged, Danish guitarist and composer. Jønsson found inspiration for Heathland in his own backyard: the heath. For generations, his family has lived on the ridge of Jutland with the hardy nature as a backdrop. And that has influenced his music. Jønsson's playing is spherical and minimalistic; the compositions are open, lyrical, and melancholic. Contrary to previous releases, the trio has gone electric on the bass on Heathland. They pull the strings, step on their pedals and hit the drumhead - like a bunch of heath peasants who burn and exhaust the soil. It is the sound of a unique interaction and a dusty, Danish prairie.
