Album Description
The Silence is Deafening is the fifth album from London-based vocalist and composer Irene Serra’s original project, ISQ. Recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, the album brings together jazz-informed improvisation, alternative pop and electronic textures.
Across eight original compositions, Serra explores womanhood, motherhood, migration, climate anxiety, emotional labour, controlling relationships and resilience. The music moves between intimate, spacious passages and darker, rhythmically charged arrangements, with Serra’s storytelling-led vocals at its centre.
The album features Irene Serra on vocals and electronics; Luca Boscagin on guitar and electronics; Richard Sadler on bass; and Chris Nickolls on drums and electronics. It was engineered by Katie May, mixed by Richard Sadler and mastered by Preben Rausbjerg.
Released by 9 Lives Records on 23 October 2026.
