Album Description

Singer and actress Nina Ernst has used the quiet phase to write new songs with her own lyrics. Melancholic, but also humorous, she gives the listener insights into her soul. The album “Dunkles Licht” (Dark Light) is like a painting of this time epoch, which is wrapped in a calm, mysterious sound with the arrangements of pianist Tino Derado and other top-class jazz musicians: Nina Ernst (vocals), Tino Derado (piano), Max Hacker (flutes, clarinet, saxophone), Raphael Zweifel (cello), Andreas Weiser (percussion) The German-language chansons contain various elements of jazz, oriental sounds, as well as lyrical songs. The love for Brazilian music and culture influenced Nina Ernst in writing her songs. The numerous trips to her favorite country had a great impact on her. Thus, two Brazilian songs by composers Nelson Ayres and André Mehmari / Tiago Torres da Silva can also be heard. The album was recorded in 2022 at Jazzanova Recording Studio in Berlin, produced by Nina Ernst. It was released by the label GLM Music in 2024. 2023 Nina Ernst has presented some pre-concerts under the title “Luz Escura” (Dark Light) with top-class Brazilian musicians, among others from Mônica Salmaso's band, for SESC São Paulo, as well at Brigitte Blair theatre in Rio de Janeiro. The music video for the song “Dein Garten” won the Munich Music Video Awards in the Best Art Music Video category in 2024.
