We are a 14-piece swing orchestra focusing on hot jazz, swing, jazz manouche, and even some Western Swing.
This record is the first of a two-set release created in direct collaboration with our Lindy Hop community through Salt City Swing. Our aim is to restore swing music to its original social function. Rather than recording swing music strictly for passive listening, we worked closely with dancers and DJs to shape tempo ranges, arrangement length, and rhythmic feel to meet the practical needs of Lindy Hop and Balboa dance floors.
“Can jazz bands build music collaboratively with dance communities?”
"Yes" is our answer.
The project reflects our nonprofit mission to make jazz more welcoming and less intimidating to new audiences while maintaining artistic and historical integrity. The album is released through Westmoon Records, which operates under a double-blind peer review process.
