Album Description
Multi-instrumentalist Travis Jenkins is a prolific composer and venturesome improviser. After taking some time to explore the classic organ trio sound through the making of 'A Turtles Dream in Outer Space' (on guitar), he returned to the piano trio format with himself at the keys for this date at JMI Live.
Inspired by the music of jazz pianist Brad Mehldau, the Travis Jenkins Piano Trio explored a repertoire consisting of predominantly contemporary popular song as templates for improvisation, including arrangements and explorations of well known songs from artists such as The Stranglers, Nick Drake, Radiohead and Black Sabbath, as well as an original from Travis’s 'Pieces for Glass Houses: Portrait of a River City' album.
