About Me

Michael Ambrosino is a technology security and privacy advocate, writer, designer, broadcast journalist, producer, and radio host. In 2019 he founded 33third.org, an independent platform featuring Currents, a stream of contemporary Jazz; Tapas, a series of experimental music sets; and Dialogs a unique series of conversations between world-class musicians and their music. As a technologist Michael's research and advocacy explores how technological disruption effects art, culture and society at large. In 2018 he conducted a research project on the ecology of jazz as understood by JazzWeek's broadcasters, radio personnel, promoters, record label owners and musicians. The study was presented at the JazzWeek Summit broadcasting conference that he coordinated that year as part of the 2018 San Jose Summer Jazz Festival in San Jose, California. His audio documentary Los Olvidados (The Forgotten Ones) speaks to the rich history, influence and discrimination Pan-Latin artists face within jazz, and has been shared nationwide by more than twenty jazz radio stations in the US and Canada.

It begins with a Weather Report concert in 1979 and is being carried forward with a platform I've created for my writing and broadcasting career - 33third.org.
