Mark O'Leary, trying not to laugh listening to Ger Murph's musings. This is an article by Ann Cahill on the Examiner, who were ironically sponsors of this competition. This brought immense pride to the; area, to the club, to youth leaders, to the school, to parents, to friends and most importantly to the Lord Mayor who was very proud of our achievements, especially when we returned from Belfast victorious. Pictured with a grinning me, is Rockie legend Ger Murphy, my brilliant brother Tomas and Banksy, a superb guy whose temporal claim to fame is that his mum dated Rory Gallagher in the early to mid sixties. Albeit, as already iterated, the measure of the man for this is Rami, but again, to riposte, with just a little polish I could have been as good if not better, not to rain on the parade, this was an incredible achievement, considering in the first round we were one question away from being ejected from the competition. Even at that age, a modicum of ambition manifested, we were on the precipice of being thrown out and I whispered to Ger, ''Do you like winning?" "I suppose so, actually, Yeah I do!" "Well do what I say". We won it outright. This is the kind of stuff that can get you into Oxbridge/Harvard, but it was a fulcrum for me to get a job in London, living in Mayfair and being Chauffeur driven to work in a Bentley. To reiterate, I was Cillian Murphy's age when he came to me for lessons when this was achieved. That said, before; Oscars, triple All Irelands, triple crowns, this lifted the area up exponentially!
