The Jones brotherspianist Hank, trumpeter Thad and drummer Elvinhave all brought greatness to the jazz world through their hard work and natural affinity for quality. Through the years, Thad Jones served as a role model for many and co-led a vibrant big band with drummer Mel Lewis. His earlier nine-year tenure with the Count Basie Orchestra forever identified Jones as a representative of that unique sound. This album captures the essence and serves as a guide to his music.
