“Coming home [to New Orleans] to perform is like going to a family reunion because you look forward to performing for family and friends," states jazz saxophonist/clarinetist, Victor Goines. “Snug Harbor is the house that I grew up in--learning how to play jazz and other types of music with New Orleans greats like Alvin “Red" Tyler, Germaine Bazzle, Earl Tubinton, Bill Huntington, Rusty Gilmore, George French, Emile Vinette, James Black, David Lee, Charmaine Neville, Reggie Houston and my teacher, friend and colleague Ellis Marsalis."

A member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (formally known as the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra) and the Wynton Marsalis Septet since 1993, as well as the Artistic Director of The Juilliard School's Jazz Program since its inception in 2001, multi-reedman Victor Goines has been widely recognized for his musicianship, both as a solo artist and ensemble player.

Mr. Goines has an active solo career as a leader performing and recording with his own quartet and quintet. With his latest 2006 release, New Adventures (Criss Cross Records), Goines alternates tenor and soprano saxophones and clarinet on original material and standards.

He has performed and collaborated with Wynton Marsalis, the Wycliffe Gordon Quintet, Herlin Riley Quartet, Ellis Marsalis, Marcus Roberts, Branford Marsalis, Bob Dylan, Dianne Reeves, Garth Fagin, Ray Charles, Mark O'Connor, Rene Fleming, Cassandra Wilson, Terence Blanchard and a host of other renowned musicians.

“I have the greatest respect for the owners, management and staff of Snug Harbor for their dedication and perseverance throughout the year to the music and the sound of the Crescent City," continues Goines. For his Snug Harbor appearance, Mr. Goines will be performing selections from New Adventures, as well as his 2000 release Sunrise to Midnight (Rosemary-Joseph Records).
