New Music USA is currently seeking applications for its 2012 Van Lier Fellowships and is putting out a call to help spread the word! The deadline is coming up on Monday April 16th!
We are awarding two fellowships of $7,000 each to young composers in their early stages of their careers, working in any style of music or sound art that have proven their artistic merit. Applicants must be African-American or Latin-American who are 32 years of age or younger living in one of the five NYC boroughs and must not be enrolled in a degree-granting program at the time of application (i.e. no current students). Funds can be used for any purpose including the creation of new work, the purchasing of musical/tech equipment, travel, or research and development. An additional $1,000 in monetary support will be provided if the composer develops and participates in an educational outreach program with students and/or youth groups. The deadline is April 16th, 2012 at 11:59 pm EST.
More information can be found at our website.
We are proud to offer this wonderful opportunity, and appreciate your assistance in spreading the word to talented and deserving artists.
