Jamaica's highly acclaimed University Singers, under the direction of Noel Dexter, approaches the end of its five-city UK tour with a penultimate performance in Reading on Saturday, August 14.

The tour began in London on July 23 and travelled to Berlin, Germany August 1-3 before returning to the UK. Conducted under the theme, Connecting with Diaspora: Building Bridges Through Music, the “Singer" 2010 tour forms part of the group's continuing mission as ambassadors of the University of the West Indies (UWI) and by extension Jamaica.

The UWI Singers, so far, participated in a number of official functions marking the 48th Jamaican Independence celebrations, and at a UWI fundraiser at the Trinidadian High Commission. On August 8 the Jamaican group performed at a somewhat belated Jamaica Independence church service at the Handsworth New Testament Church of God.
