Two-day tribute to The Music of John Coltrane by the Montclair Office of Art and Cultural Development

Local and youth jazz ensembles will perform in several business districts during the early evening hours followed by a restaurant/pub crawl on May 10th. Saturday afternoon will be filled with afternoon concerts in the Montclair High School Amphitheater showcasing some of the finest in jazz ensembles, followed by an evening musical extravaganza in the High School Auditorium with the 21-piece AFRICA BRASS PROJECT and St. Paul's Baptist Church Gospel Choir.

Sponsored by Montclair Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, this month-long event will be a celebration of the life and works of John Coltrane. Beginning on May 1 and continuing through to May 10th, workshops and lectures will be held in Montclair High School, exposing students to the invaluable contributions and unique tradition of this revered composer, musician, and performer. Charles Tolliver, renowned jazz conductor, and Junko Arita, a vocalist and choir professional, will be in-residence rehearsing Coltrane
