Appearing will be The New York Powerhouse Ensemble with Mickey Bass, John Hicks, Craig Handy and Eric Allen. Also appearing will be Vocalese, Giacomo Gates and his trio.

The Boston Jazz Society, Inc. will be honoring three outstanding contributors to jazz with Boston Jazz Society awards: drummer Harold Layne, saxophone and reeds player, Billy Thompson and Eric Jackson of WGBH radio. Boston Jazz Society scholarship recipient Walter Smith will play with the Boston Jazz Society Student Ensemble with Michael Herklots and other Berklee Colege of Music musicians. ellipsis will perform with Michael Sempert, Dan Blake , Noah Jarrett, Sandy Parakilas, and Diego Pinera. Ellipsis is a group based at the New England Conservatory of Music and Tufts University. The 25th Annual Boston Jazz Society Barbecue and Festival will be a lively afternoon of music for all ages featuring legendary performers and new talent in the finest Boston Jazz Society tradition.
