Taiko Fest La Mirada Weekend

This weekend, Biola University will hold it's annual Student Congress on Racial Reconciliation (SCORR).

Now in its fourteenth year, the conference attracts over two hundred attendees, including students, faculty and alumni from various Christian universities across the nation, seeking to dialog on issues concerning social justice, diversity and reconciliation within Christian Higher Education.

Closing the conference on Saturday evening is Taiko Fest, a high-powered, energetic performance by two drum groups. Both Progressive Taiko, based in Los Angeles, and Koshin Taiko, based in Venice Beach, will perform at Taiko Fest.

In line with the conference's theme of exploring cultural diversity, Taiko Fest celebrates the art of the Japanese drum and the ability to expressive cultural creativity through art and music. This year, both drum groups are Los Angeles-based, comprised of members who have extensive experience with collegiate taiko drum groups and have performed for a variety of audiences, including award shows, sporting events and civic events.

The conference starts at 5 pm Friday night, February 26.
Taiko Fest will close the conference at 7 pm Saturday, February 27
