Miles Ahead, hosted by award-winning jazz authorities Neil Tesser and Mark Ruffin, to feature interviews with top jazz artists and authors, and reports from the International Association for Jazz Education Conference in Long Beach, California
Miles Ahead, Chicago's evening drive-time jazz radio program, kicks off 2002 by presenting a week of exclusive live programs from Los Angeles and Long Beach, California starting Monday, January 7. Broadcasting live from the International Association for Jazz Education Conference and other area locales, these special Miles Ahead programs will feature interviews with jazz musicians, authors, and other movers and shakers from the world of jazz. In addition, Miles Ahead will also present its regular mix of current mainstream jazz, as well as reports from Shadow Traffic.
Scheduled to appear for exclusive interviews, thus far, are jazz legends Dave Brubeck, Horace Silver, and Charlie Haden, as well as vibraphonist Gary Burton, pianist Makoto Ozone, saxophonist and vocalist Curtis Stigers, saxophonist Claire Daly, vocalist Tierney Sutton and author Peter Levinson, whose recent biography of arranger Nelson Riddle, September in the Rain, sheds new light on the sometimes stormy but sensationally productive relationship between Riddle and Frank Sinatra. Additional guest interviews will be announced next week.
