SCCD 31477 - Lee Ann Ledgerwood - “Compassion' Recorded in 1998, these solo piano pieces from Ledgerwood explore eight compositions by John Coltrane including “5th House", “Naima", and “Compassion". “Simultaneously adventurous but also emotionally direct, Ledgerwood and crew require plaudits for even attempting John Coltrane's title track in this context". - Chris Hovan (reviewing Ledgerwood's last CD for SteepleChase (SCCD 31468) entitled “Transition". The prolific master of the alto saxophone is back with more great music on SteepleChase. Here he is greatly assisted by up and coming greatness on piano in the form of George Colligan as they go through classic compositions such as Konitz's own “Stellar" and “Monkin' Around", Antonio Carlos Jobim's “Zingaro" and “Triste", and Arlen's “Come Rain Or Shine".
