Roy Haynes, the world's greatest living jazz drummer and Charlie Parker's drummer of choice, has also performed with Louis Armstrong, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Sarah Vaughan, Thelonious Monk and Miles Davis just to name a few. Mr. Haynes' recording Fountain of Youth album was nominated for a Grammy in 2004. The Roy Haynes Fountain of Youth Band features Jaleel Shaw (saxophone), Martin Bejerano (piano) and David Wong (bass). Poet, activist, and playwright Amiri Baraka will also participate in this gala benefit event for Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium.
Brooklyn Tech Auditorium's entrance is in middle of the block on South Elliot Place between DeKalb and Lafayette Avenues, three blocks from transportation hub Atlantic Terminal (Atlantic Avenue - MTA and Flatbush Ave - LIRR). This renovated concert hall atmosphere community venue features a state of the art lightening, theatrical site lines; Meyer 48 channel digital sound system and plush seating.
